What is MITH? It’s MITH (Money in the hat) Series of all styles dance battles. MITH was put together to help the community level up their dance abilities through friendly competition. Iron sharpens Iron. MITH was also made to keep the accessibilities for Dance competitions affordable. Throwing a MITH battle doesn’t require a lot of money because the idea is for practice.
Let’s take a look at the first MITH battle. This was thrown by community leader Bboy ROX-IT. The inspiration came from the movie You Got Served that released back in the early 2000s. I’ve put together a playlist where you can check out Rox-it’s spin on the event. One of the coolest things he did was invite a drummer to provide the music for the semi-finals and finals.
New beginnings
Rox-it later moved to Vegas and the battles that he threw also left with him. After a while, King Koi Roi got permission from Rox-it to continue to battle’s tradition of Iron sharpens iron with a more affordable approach to the battle. Koi threw his first one at the Art Institute of Indianapolis with the help of a Dance Club called AI get funky. Being an Art major himself, Koi started the club in hopes to help students find their confidence through dance.
MITH 15
15 iterations later, MITH has blossomed into a huge event! Koi was able to get the Art Council of Indianapolis attention with the idea of throwing a dance battle at the historical Arts Garden in the heart of Indianapolis. MITH enjoyed dancers from all over. Cleveland, Ireland!

Check out footage from MITH 15. It was an incredible time!
The winner of MITH 15 was SJ a Local Street Dancer. He took home an awesome Trophy and $1000 courtesy of The Indianapolis Arts Council.
